Criminal Minds is still looking for a replacement for Thomas Gibson—and it might come in the form of two people.

According to TVLine, producers are currently looking for two series regulars to fill the void left by Gibson's absence after he was fired from the show for kicking a writer. While one of the new characters will take the reins of the BAU as the replacement for team leader Hotchner, the other role is still TBD.

CBS had no comment on the potential news, but it's no secret that the creative changes are still being worked out behind-the-scenes as the show works to address Gibson's sudden absence.

"Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds," ABC Studios and CBS Studios said in a statement at the time of Gibson's ouster.  "Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date."

Gibson was suspended in July after getting into a dispute with a writer over "creative differences" with an episode he was directing, and was absent from the set for two weeks before his firing. The actor, 54, has played BAU team leader Aaron Hotchner since the show's debut in 2005.

"There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement," Gibson told E! News in a statement after the incident. "I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and we always will."

Criminal Minds is still scheduled to return for its 12th season on Sept. 28.
