Ben Higgins isn't going into politics anytime soon.

The Bachelor star, who had fans buzzing when he setup a website where anyone could donate to his possible campaign, announced Friday that he won't be running for public office in Colorado.

"I regret that I must withdraw my candidacy. Despite my best efforts to pursue this opportunity in good faith, I recently received information that has made such a pursuit unworkable. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to move forward as a candidate," he said in a statement. "I find solace in knowing that our intentions and actions have been fair and sincere. I entered into this endeavor wanting to bring positive change to my community, and it is with that same spirit that I will move forward, albeit on a different path."

Higgins would've been up against Denver state House district against Democratic Rep. Dan Pabon (R). The 28-year-old reality star joined the political race after small business owner William B. Pinkston withdrew his candidacy on July 8, according to the Denver Post. Although fans won't get to see him on the political stage, viewers will be able to get more of Higgins when his new series, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After, with fiancée Lauren Bushnell premiers in October on Freeform.

According to a source, "contractually Ben is not being allowed to pursue his campaign. Apparently the production company and/or ABC does not want to have their talent involved in politics while he's under contract."

The new reality series will follow the couple as they prepare for their wedding and starting their life together in the real world, outside The Bachelor mansion. According to a press release, Ben will also explore getting involved in politics while Lauren looks to "establish her identity post-Bachelor," so fans will get to see his process for deciding to run—and then drop out—of the Colorado race.

Viewers should also look for guest appearances from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette fan favorites who will stop by and give them advice on life after the final rose.
