Amazon just can't quit the Pfeffermans. The online giant has renewed Transparent for a fourth season. Jill Soloway will remain on board the Emmy-winning show as showrunner and executive producer.

"Amazon's explosive freedom and revolutionary thinking has given birth to this show. It's so much more than TV to us, it's our version of the most ambitious streaming art we can conjure," Soloway said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter. "We're having the time of our lives sharing season two for the awards season hoopla, and editing and finishing up season three for a fall release. This news of an order for season four is so, so sweet. The Pfeffermans have many more stories to tell and we can't wait to keep making them."

Transparent tells the story of Maura Pfefferman (Jeffrey Tambor), a transgender woman who comes out late in life to her family that includes and ex-wife and three (struggling) adult children. The cast also includes Judith Light, Gabby Hoffman, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, Alexandra Billings, Kathryn Hahn, Melora Hardin and Carrie Brownstein. Guest stars over the years have included Anjelica Huston, Cherry Jones, Didi Conn, Rob Huebel, Michaela Watkins, Tig Notaro, Zackary Drucker, Hari Nef and Trace Lysette.

Tambor has won a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award and Emmy for his work as Maura. Soloway won an Emmy for directing the series and Bradley Whitford took home the trophy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his appearance on the Amazon series. The show also won Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series.

"As the quality of television rises to new heights, Transparent continues to stand out for its depth of character, compassionate storytelling and its infinite creative risk-taking," Joe Lewis, head of half-hour TV at Amazon Studios, said in a statement. "We're grateful that customers have responded so enthusiastically to the Pfefferman family and we're excited to bring them another chapter of their story."

No premiere date for season three has been set. The fourth season has been set for 2017.
