Watch: "Empire" Stars Spill Who They Think Fell Off the Ledge

If you ask us, Empire took the word "cliffhanger" a little too literally at the end of its second season finale.

In the closing moments of the episode, we saw Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) and Anika (Grace Gealey) fighting on the edge of a balcony—only to cut away as one of the women fell.

And according to the stars of the show, even the actors don't know which woman it was. At least that's what they SWORE to us last week when we caught up with them on a red carpet.

Ta'Rhonda Jones, who pretty much speaks for all of us, told E! News her immediate reaction to the episode. "I was a little disappointed because I'm, like, that's it? Nothing else? That's all we get?!"

Director Sanaa Hamri knows you're probably upset, but it was totally intentional. "The shot before we cut to Andre's face, it's 50/50. So is it both of them? Is it none of them? We're not gonna know," she teased.

The cast members all have their theories as to who it actually was, but they were a little reluctant to share them. "I don't want either one of them to die, because they're so good at what they do," Jones said.

And Gabourey Sidibe had a major conflict, considering she's friends with both Doubleday and Gealey. "I love both Kaitlin and Grace so much that I don't want to say out loud who I want to go off the cliff because I don't want to hurt their feelings," she lamented—before ultimately spilling the beans. "Anika gotta go! I don't know if it's her, I just feel like there's so much there. She's so crazy and she did push Rhonda. She said that she did it!"

If Anika survives, it's not like she'll be in a great place—especially since Lucious knows the truth about Rhonda's fall. "I can't imagine the amount of retribution that he will bring upon her," Terrence Howard said.

Gealey wouldn't give us any hints, but reminded us that we'll have to wait until the fall to find out. "Clearly the cliffhanger was so huge, you have to tune in to season three to see what happens next," she said.

Empire will return this fall on Fox.
