Today marks the annual Met Gala—a.k.a. the Met Ball, Costume Institute Gala, every fashion fan's favorite night and another opportunity for Beyoncé to kill it. (Naked dress plus high pony? Mic drop.)

Needless to say, we're expecting a lot…and we're not the only ones. There is a slew of pregnant celebs this year: Olivia Wilde, Behati PrinslooBar Refaeli…the list goes on. Unfortunately, high fashion and baby bumps have not always had the most, well, comfortable relationship—so when glowing stars do hit the red carpet, it's always interesting to see how the celeb-designer duo interprets the year's party theme.

Before the carpet rolls out tonight, let's look back at the recent history of baby bumps at the Met Gala. Perhaps it'll give us some insight into what we can expect from this year's mothers-to-be. Will they wear another A-line dress or something truly innovative?

2009: There was no better year for Heidi Klum to be preggers than when the theme, The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, paid tribute to top beauties (like herself) and their influence on the industry. Although Heidi was glowing, her black and navy J. Mendel gown was not. Love it or hate, the layers of satin and tulle were a force to be reckoned with.

2011: A few years later, Kate Hudson, in Stella McCartney, honored the late fashion icon Alexander McQueen, in a gold gown made to highlight every beautiful curve of her body. The dress ruched at the belly, and the embellished top created some major cleavage.

In the same year, it was double the glow. Suddenly, being pregnant at the Met Gala became trendy. Jessica Alba, for instance, beamed in an A-line Ralph Lauren dress, with beading trickling down the overlay, exuding full princess vibes.

2013: The Internet may have not loved Kim Kardashian's floral Givenchy gown, dubbing it "the couch dress," but it's worth respecting. When celebs before her were camouflaging their bumps under layers of fabric and tent-like silhouettes, Kim flaunted her precious bundle with the help of one of the edgiest designers around—Riccardo Tisci. At a punk-themed gala, a dated floral print was juxtaposed against a conservative neckline, sexy slit and perfectly slicked-back hair, all elements that shouldn't have worked together but did.

2014: Lake Bell proved less is more in a bold-red Tommy Hilfiger dress. In the year honoring Brit fashion designer Charles James, the actress showed her counterparts that a baby bump could be sleek and chic. The shiny, pleated train was just a cherry on top.

2015: Jaime King took a page out of Lake's book and donned an orange-red number, courtesy of Jason Wu for Hugo Boss for the "China: Though the Looking Glass"-themed event. The color and tailoring spoke for itself, as the star paired the simple dress with little else except a few diamond accessories.

What will this year's pregnant stars grace the red carpet in? We'll have to wait and find out.
