Things are about to go from bad to worse for Barry Allen.

Somehow, despite having his existence erased in The Flash's first season finale, Reverse-Flash is making a return to Central City, E! News has confirmed. Yep, you read that right: Matt Letscher is returning to the CW hit as Barry's (Grant Gustin) nemesis Eobard Thawne.

But how could time-traveling Eobard be alive after his ancestor Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) sacrificed himself to ensure his villainous descendant would never be born? Might this Eobard be from another Earth? That remains the question.

Executive producer Todd Helbing, who wrote the episode featuring Letscher's return along with Aaron Helbing, would only Entertainment Weekly, who first broke the news, "His impossible return to Central City puts a member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team in unexpected danger, forcing Barry to make a life-changing decision."

Geez. As if having Zoom around wasn't enough.

What are your theories on how Eobard will return? Sound off in the comments below.

The Flash returns with new episodes Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
