The singer and actress decided to trim down her normally long, blonde locks and rock a freshly chopped bob for the holidays this year, taking to Instagram to show off her new 'do.
"Soooo it's pretty short," she captioned the sepia-toned pic. "Thank you @cynthiavanis chopping."
As you can tell from the photo below, Duff's blonde tresses—which she would often wear in long, loose curls by her shoulders—now hit just above her chin, looking healthy and thick as ever!
Her hairstyle, Cynthia Vanis, tells E! News, "Hilary was itching to shed her locks but we couldn't due to the fact that the we were in the middle of shooting season 2 of Younger. So about 7 minutes after her picture wrap from the show we cut about 6 inches off, just to bite the bullet. (Not scary at all)."
She added, "Then I cut the length chin level. After then we styled and took a little bit of the bulk out of the super blunt look by texturizing the ends. It's an incredibly liberating way to freshen up your look. And knowing Hilary, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the color might change."
Meanwhile, this is just one of the many hair changes Duff has made over the last few years. From rocking turquoise and blue "mermaid hair" to bright pink and purple locks for her "Sparks" music video, a long bob and even some gray, transforming her tresses is nothing new for the former Disney star.
Her often changing appearance might be due to her new outlook on life after splitting from her husband, Mike Comrie, in 2014. The two called it quits after marrying in 2010, but have remained amicable and continue to co-parent their son, Luca, together.
Since the split, Hilary has made it a point to focus on herself and her career. Not only did she drop a new album and join a new television show, but she also centered on self-love, often discussing body image and confidence.
"I'm the worst dieter ever so I don't have the best body, but I'm proud of my body and I'm, like, accepting of what it is," Duff told E! News exclusively in April. "I'm not ever going to be 110 pounds again, so working with what you got and just trying to feel strong and powerful. I think is a good motto for a mom who's 27."
She added, "It's been a big year for me obviously. Everyone knows a lot of what goes on in my personal life and thank God I have exciting things happening in my professional life as well, like the show and my record. My record's finally done. So I'm really excited for whatever adventure is in my future. I think it's going to be exciting."
And now new hair to boot!
