We all remember that time Sandra Bullock won an Oscar—in that dazzling Marchesa dress, with her heartfelt speech and side-swept hair. Who could forget when Gwyneth Paltrow hit the red carpet in that white Tom Ford cape? Then there are all the instances we tried to replicate Emma Stone's versatile red carpet looks.

There have been an abundance of moments in which celebs have wowed us and, as a result, immediately affected the tide of mainstream trends. Of course, these A-listers deserve credit for inspiring our style and beauty aspirations, but let's also recognize the people behind the scenes—the hairstylists, makeup artists and tastemakers who brought that red-carpet confidence to a tangible level.

On Wednesday, Marie Claire magazine announced the recipients of its inaugural Image Maker Awards. The celebration will pay tribute to the industry's biggest influencers and the impact they've made not only on their celeb clientele but to the world of style as a whole.

Winners include hairstylist Adir Abergel, colorist Tracey Cunningham, stylist Micaela Erlanger and makeup artists Jillian Dempsey, Sir John and Jenn Streicher. The event will also include a star-studded array of presenters, including Jennifer Garner, Kristen Stewart and Lupita Nyong'o.

In partnership with Marie Claire, E! Style Collective went one on one with Image Maker Adir Abergel, hairstylist and visionary behind memorable looks like Sandra's silky tresses at the Oscars and Gwyneth's elegant ponytail at the 2012 Academy Awards.

In the video, Adir shares what it is really like to work with such a high caliber of celebrity and recounts his favorite career highlights (hint: It involves Jessica Biel, missing hair tools and a bottle of salt water). Hey, you know you're really talented when you can make a masterpiece out of nothing.

Marie Claire's Image Maker Awards will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
