Leighton Meester is giving us the Christmas cover we never knew we needed...until now.
The former Gossip Girl star has dabbled in music before, collaborating with Cobra Starship on "Good Girls Go Bad" and releasing her debut album, Heartstrings. Now she's teaming up with Dana Williams for a holiday rendition of "Blue Christmas." The song, which was originally performed by Elvis Presley, gets a bluesy cover with Meester and Williams' vocals.
The dynamic duo has collaborated before on a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." But an added bonus of this particular rendition is the guy in the Santa hat rocking the tambourine. According to Williams' YouTube his name is Chrystian Kaplan and is also responsible for the production. But it's his hand-driven percussion and tambourine skills that have us intrigued.
Meester has been keeping a very low profile since becoming pregnant with her daughter, Arlo Day, whom she shares with husband Adam Brody.
The actress-turned-musician never publicly confirmed her pregnancy nor did she address her daughter's birth, but E! News ultimately learned that she welcomed her firstborn on Aug. 4 at 12:12 a.m. when Meester delivered her baby at Whittier Hospital in Whittier, Calif.
Even though Brody and Meester made our dreams come true with the ultimate Gossip Girl-The O.C. crossover, we haven't seen much of them since both of their shows ended. They've appeared in a couple of films but otherwise have remained out of the spotlight. She told InStyle U.K. last year, "My values have shifted greatly in terms of what I find important. It's my family, my friends and having a personal life. Those are the things that need nurturing."
