Kate Middleton Looks Festive in Red at Children's Hospital Christmas Party

Duchess of Cambridge channeled her holiday spirit

Kate Middleton dressed in the Christmas spirit Tuesday while attending a Christmas party at a children's hospital.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked gorgeous in her red Alexander McQueen outfit, which she paired with black heels. Prince William's wife showed off her new, long bob hairstyle complete with her bangs parted to the side. Kate joined a group of children and their parents making paper copies of their hands that would ultimately come together to Christmas tree collage at the Anna Freud Centre, a leading charity in research, teaching and the provision of care for children with mental health issues.

Children also wrote positive messages on the fingers of their paper hands, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte's mom added her own special message. She also participated in a drumming workshop where she played along and watched some of the kids drum away with their hands.

Kate and Wills are busy preparing for Charlotte's very first Christmas, which will be an "intimate, informal affair." A source told E! News that the couple "will not attend Christmas Day lunch at Sandringham with the queen and the rest of the royal family. Instead, the plan at the moment is to host the day's festivities in their own home." (The palace has not yet confirmed William and Kate's plans for the holidays.)

Even though both George and Charlotte received some extravagant gifts when they were born and baptized, Christmas will be a lower key affair. "The queen doesn't like extravagance when it comes to presents, so there is never an abundance of them," the source added. "The royals actually have a limit on how much they spend on each other, like Secret Santa."

Now that George has figured out what Christmas is all about, he's said to be looking forward to it the most. "Prince George is the most excited about Christmas out of anyone in the family!" the insider said. "Obviously Princess Charlotte is too little to know what is going on, but George is not! He is super excited about Christmas and his little sister's first Christmas."
