The Golden Globes really loves streaming shows and Starz. The 2016 Golden Globe nominations were announced by Dennis Quaid, Angela Bassett, Chloë Grace Moretz and America Ferrera and it was a who's who of streaming shows, little cable dramas and oh yeah, Outlander! Gone were perennial favorites Modern Family and Downton Abbey and in were new flavors Casual and Empire. There were plenty of other snubs and surprises; it is the Golden Globes, after all.

SURPRISE: Outlander, Caitriona Balfe, Tobias Menzies
Finally, some Outlander love from an awards show, but where is Sam Heughan? Where?!

SNUB: Sam Heughan
Where is he?!

CW

SURPRISE: Rachel Bloom
We're crazy for the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and co-creator. The CW is finally getting recognition for doing good work. Last year's winner, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, is back in the category too.

SNUB: Emma Roberts
Jamie Lee Curtis picked up a nomination for Scream Queens, but what happened to our one-liner queen?

SURPRISE: Casual
Hulu is in the Golden Globes game!

SNUB: Modern Family
Not really complaining here, Modern Family has had its time in the sun. Same goes for The Big Bang Theory.

SURPRISE: Mr. Robot
We had a sneaking suspicion Rami Malek would be picking up a nomination (and possibly a trophy!) after his SAG Award nomination, but the USA drama picked up a nomination for best drama and Christian Slater got one in the supporting category.

SNUB: The Leftovers
So...what happened here?

SNUB: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
The show and favorites Ellie Kemper and Tituss Burgess were nowhere to be found. Hollywood Foreign Press Association must think they're still in that bunker...

Showtime

SURPRISE: Maura Tierney
The Affair was shut out, as were Dominic West and Ruth Wilson, but everybody's favorite, Maura Tierney, snuck in there and rightfully so.

SNUB: Inside Amy Schumer
Amy Schumer picked up some nominations for Trainwreck, but nothing in the TV category.

SURPRISE: Aziz Ansari
What a pleasant surprise! The Netflix series is one of our new favorites, glad to see it's one of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's, too.

SNUB: Downton Abbey
With the exception of Joanne Froggatt (Anna), Downton Abbey was absent from the nominations. Not even one for Maggie Smith! However, she did pick up a nomination for The Lady in the Van.

SNUB: Niecy Nash
The Scream Queens and Getting On veteran picked up an Emmy nomination for the HBO series, but got nada from the Golden Globes. Rude.

SURPRISE/SNUB: The Big Bang Theory
No Big Bang Theory love anywhere. Props to HFPA for recognizing there are other comedies out there.

SNUB: Daredevil and Jessica Jones
Netflix certainly got a lot of lovin' from the Golden Globes nominations, but nothing for their excellent Marvel superhero shows.

The Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, air Sunday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
