Disney's on the hunt for a hot young scoundrel to play the hottest scoundrel in a galaxy far, far away.

More than 2,500 actors have had talks and auditioned, in person or remotely, for the part of a young Han Solo in a Star Wars spinoff film dedicated to the studly, fast-talking, fast-shooting space swashbuckler, The Hollywood Reporter said on Wednesday.

The character was made famous by Harrison Ford, who reprises his role from the original '70s and '80s trilogy in J.J. Abrams' new sequel, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, set for release on Dec. 18.

Here are seven of the contenders, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

1. Ansel Elgort, 21

Even Disney is well-aware Ansel is so hot right now, having captured the hearts of young women as Shailene Woodley's love interest in The Fault in Our Stars...and as her brother in the Divergent movies.

2. Miles Teller, 28

The actor drummed his heart out in the Oscar-nominated film Whiplash and also starred with Elgort and Woodley in the Divergent films. He recently appeared as Reed Richards in the remake of Fantastic Four

3. Chandler Riggs, 16

The actor is best known for his role as gun-toting, badass teen zombie killer Carl ("Cooooral!") Grimes, son of main character Rick Grimes, on AMC's The Walking Dead. The question is, if he is cast as Han, will he finally get a haircut?

4. Dave Franco, 30

The actor and brother of James Franco stars with Zac Efron in the Neighbors comedy films and can do a mean Robert De Niro impression.

5. Rami Malek, 34

The actor is known for his leading role in the USA Network series Mr. Robot.

6. Ed Westwick, 28

Gossip Girl's CHUCK BASS could be HAN SOLO. Now read that again and let it sink in.

7. Tom Felton, 28

...or the role could go to Harry Potter's Draco Malfoy. Draco Malfoy

Disney has not commented on the movie's casting.

The Han Solo movie, which is still untitled, is set to be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who helmed the 21 Jump Street film and its sequel, as well as The LEGO Movie.

The new film is set for release in 2018.
