While there may be some naughty sex romps in the new romantic comedy Sleeping With Other People, there's one scene in particular that's getting a lot of attention.
First a quick synopsis of the film—Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie star as two New Yorkers who lost their virginity to each other in college. They reconnect about 12 years later after running into each other at a 12-step program for love and sex addicts, but are determined to keep their relationship platonic.
At one point, Brie explains to Sudeikis that she's not so proficient in masturbation. The Saturday Night Life alum proceeds to use the opening of a glass juice bottle to teach her what to do with her fingers. One of his moves is called the "Dirty DJ."
Filming the scene wasn't as uncomfortable as we initially assumed. "It was us going, this is delicate," Brie said last night at a screening of the movie at the London West Hollywood, co-hosted by Smirnoff Vodka and Visionaire. "We don't want it to be creepy. We don't want Sudeikis to be pervy. It was just like we're friends and you're learning this thing, [but] after we learned that the crew found it very hot."
Sleeping's writer-director Leslye Headland confirmed the crew's reaction. "People were all like sweating," she said.
"Jason and I were taking it very seriously," Brie said. "This a a standard tutorial. [Sudeikis] chose the bottle. He put a lot of thought into it."
Sleeping With Other People is in theaters Sept. 11. The cast also includes Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, Andrea Savage and Jason Mantzoukas.
