Watch: Zac Efron Shows PDA at "We Are Your Friends" Premiere!

Zac Efron lights up when he talks about his girlfriend Sami Mirø.

The couple made their red carpet debut at the premiere of We Are Your Friends at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood Thursday. Efron looked sharp in a custom Neil Barrett tuxedo, Jimmy Choo shoes, a vintage 1978 Rolex and a Neil Lane ring. Mirø was just as stunning in an Oglia Loro mini, a Tom Ford cape, Christian Louboutin heels and Neil Lane jewelry. "She looks great," Efron told E! News. "I'm so stoked she's here. It's her first time seeing the movie, too, so it's awesome."

Given that she describes herself as a "vintage curator and designer" on Instagram, it's no wonder Mirø looked marvelous. Perhaps that explains why Efron, who has been dating Mirø for nearly a year, couldn't resist giving her a kiss on the red carpet.

In We Are Your Friends, Efron plays Cole, a struggling DJ in the EDM scene who dreams of becoming a major music producer. After a veteran DJ named James (Wes Bentley) agrees to become his mentor, Cole becomes close with James' girlfriend, Sophie (Emily Ratajkowski). Cole and Sophie's relationship blossoms and breaks their bond with James, which forces Cole into difficult decisions about his career.

To prepare for the film, director Max Joseph wanted the actor to look the part. "Basically Max was just like, 'Dude, you have to lose weight.' And he showed me pictures of the best DJs out there. In the movie, Cole's a runner, and I just started running from that day forward. We only had like three weeks to prepare for the film. So, I just started running every day. And it worked!" Efron said. "I lost like 10 lbs."

Earlier this week, Efron explained to E! News that he also "trimmed" his diet and "stopped lifting weights" in an effort to slim down. "At the end of the movie I had like shin splints. My knees hurt. It was gnarly," he recalled. "Running's hard."

We Are Your Friends is in theaters Aug. 28.
