Bryce Dallas Howard made a mommy mistake Saturday morning.

Before the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., she accidentally told her 2-year-old daughter, Beatrice Howard-Gabel, that she would be visiting Disneyland later that afternoon—and she would be doing it alone. "I was such an idiot. I'm such a fool. My son is at camp right now, so he wasn't there this morning. My daughter was just like, 'Don't go! Don't go!' I was like, 'Honey, I'm sorry. I need to go. I have to go to Disney.' I just saw in her eyes, she was like, 'Take me with you!' I'm like, 'What have I done?'" she told E! News. "I was trying to be logical with her. I was like, 'Sweetheart, it's going to really cut into your nap. You know you've been really sleepy lately. You've been going through a growth spurt.' She's like, 'No, no, no.'"

The actress showed up solo (sorry, Beatrice!) to promote Disney's remake of Pete's Dragon, which was released in 1977. "There were so many moments when I was shooting where I was giggling out of my mind because I was like, 'I'm in my thirties and I'm riding on a dragon!' It was just so fun," said Howard, 34. "It was very cool."

Directed by David Lowery, Pete's Dragon also stars Wes Bentley, Craig Hall, Oona Laurence, Robert Redford and Karl Urban. The movie, which will blend live-action footage with CGI but not be a musical, will be released on Aug. 12, 2016.

After starring in Universal Pictures' Jurassic World, released in June, one would think Howard was used to working with CGI creatures. Think again. "It's a big difference to be chased by a dragon and to befriend a dragon—or be chased by a dinosaur and befriend a dragon," she said. "I totally messed up on set constantly, where I would be like, 'Where's the raptor? Where's the raptor?' And they would be like, 'Dragon! Dragon!' Like, 'What's the eye line of the dinosaur?' 'It's a dragon!'"
