American Horror Story superfan Austin Mahone apparently isn't that big of a superfan? The singer was on Watch What Happens Live alongside Connie Britton, she of Nashville, Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story and perfect hair fame. But Mahone didn't recognize Britton for her Emmy-nominated role in AHS: Murder House. You know, the first season. You know, she was one of the main characters…

"I got my tonsils out and I couldn't do anything for two weeks, so I saw American Horror Story on Netflix," Mahone explained. "I was like, ‘You know what? I'm going to watch every season,' and I knocked three seasons out in three days…Yeah, I felt terrible."

So maybe it was the painkillers he was on that blinded him to Britton and her luscious locks?

"You were on American Horror Story? Who'd you play?" he asked her. Awkward.

"I played the wife in American Horror Story," she said with a laugh. "It was about a haunted house—"

"Yeah, I love American Horror Story," Mahone said.

He still couldn't remember Britton's role. "Well, OK, apparently I didn't make a good impression," she joked after Andy Cohen asked Mahone if he remembered her. We'll give him this: Britton is one of the few stars who has not been able to return to the American Horror Story universe since her time on the first season of the show. That could change, eventually.

"I would love to because I love all those crazy people. But I'm presently on a television show, which consumes ten months out of the year. It's called Nashville. So I hope you watch that show. And when that's done I hope that I will then be able to come back to American Horror Story," Britton said.

However, she will team up with Ryan Murphy again on FX's American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson where she'll play Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fixture Faye Resnick.

(E! and Bravo are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
