Law and Order: SVU is taking on one of the biggest stories of the year—heck, the last decade—Robert Durst and The Jinx. The NBC drama, which is now the longest-running drama on TV with its season 17 premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 23, will even go as far as having some confession caught on camera.

Check out the new preview below. And yes, that's Dallas Roberts back as the nefarious serial killer Dr. Yates, previously seen in the Law and Order: SVU-Chicago Fire-Chicago PD crossover.

Black trash bags with body parts? Check. A wealthy New Yorker suspected by endless amounts of people? Check. Disguises? Check. No word on the burping and blinking though.

Of course Law and Order: SVU is no stranger to stories that come ripped from the headlines. In recent years the show has taken on Ray Rice and the TMZ video, a case that had similarities to Paula Deen's public downfall, Trayvon Martin, and Casey Kasem's death and family feud. And Durst and all the bizarre details that keep emerging about his alleged crimes aren't new to Law & Order. The mothership show took on the case in a season 14 episode titled "Hands Free." Law and Order: Criminal Intent's "Maledictus" also touched on aspects of Durst's alleged crimes.

With the Durst story out of the way, the countdown to SVU taking on the Duggar scandal is on.

Law and Order: SVU returns on Wednesday, Sept. 23 with a two-hour episode at 9 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
