Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert put on a brave face last night when she performed in Nashville, Tenn. just eight days after she and Blake Shelton announced that they are divorcing after four years of marriage

The 31-year-old country crooner took the stage at 3rd & Lindsley, a Nashville club, a performed with a number of notable musicians, including Natalie Hemby and Jessi Alexander as well as Alexander's husband, Jon Randall during the round-table style show.

"She came out smiling but was very subdued. She was really nervous and even said so. She was very shy at first," an eyewitness tells E! News of Lambert. "A little later, she loosened up and started having a good time."

"You could tell she's got things on her mind but she was starting to have fun," the insider added, noting that Lambert was "very funny when she wanted to be."

Lambert, who performed in front of a packed audience, was also joined on stage by a handful of new artists, including Courtney Cole, Clare Dunn and RaeLynn, who was previously on Blake Shelton's team on The Voice, but was eliminated during the quarterfinals.

"If there was a theme of the night, it was empowering women and songwriters and women artists," the source said, describing the setting as an "intimate night with friends." "She is going on tour with many of those women in the fall."

The "Little Red Wagon" beauty looked stunning during the show, wearing ripped jeans, a Patti Loveless t-shirt, black cowboy boots and bright red lipstick. "She looked gorgeous," the eyewitness said.

In spite of her public heartbreak, the singer stayed strong on stage. "There were no tears or major emotion. She was very much in control and composed," the source said. "She wasn't withdrawn but more guarded. She was never sad or melancholy."

Still, Lambert did allude to her split and admitted life hasn't been too easy since the breakup.

"I've been living off caffeine and sad songs lately. So, we're going to drink some caffeine and play a sad song," Lambert said before launching into her hit "Dear Diamonds."

The "Somethin' Bad" beauty also sang "Girl Crush," "White Liar" and "Smoking and Drinking" during the show after opening with her hit "Bathroom Sink."

"I've been singing this one to myself a lot." she said to songwriting partner Natalie Hemby about her hit "Virginia Blue Bell." Hemby, who was a cowriter with Miranda on the track, then sang the tune, dedicating it to her pal.

Shelton and Lambert, who tied the knot in May 2011, announced their divorce last week.

"This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately," the two said in a joint statement. "We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
