Donald Trump spoke on the radio show The Palin Update on Monday, per CNN, where the Republican presidential hopeful said he would like to see Sarah Palin become part of the Trump administration.
"I'd love that," the real estate tycoon told host Kevin Scholla. "Because she really is somebody who knows what's happening and she's a special person. She's really a special person and I think people know that."
He continued, praising the former Alaska governor for her influence among the public. "I still have people saying, 'Get Sarah's support! Get Sarah's support!' No matter where I go. Everybody loves her," he said of the former vice presidential candidate.
The outspoken business magnate also found common ground with Palin, due to the fact they are both controversial figures.
"Like me, she's got people that don't exactly love us and we understand who they are and sort of forget about that," he said. "But she has a tremendously loyal group of people out there for her."
Likewise, the 51-year-old politician recently came to Trump's defense last week following his controversial comments about John McCain, Palin's former running mate in the 2008 election (Trump said the veteran, who famously spent five and a half years in a POW camp during the Vietnam War is "not a war hero").
"Sen. McCain dedicated his life to serving our country, and in my humble opinion the sacrifices made by all ethical service members are heroic—putting it all on the line to defend freedom IS heroic—and Donald Trump is a hero in another arena," Palin wrote in an email to CNN.
"Trump is the candidate giving voice to untold millions of fed-up Americans witnessing a purposeful destruction of our economy and the equal opportunity for success that made America exceptional," the email continued. "We're watching career politicians throw away our kids' future through bankrupting public budgets and ripping open our porous borders which, obvious to all us non-politicians, puts us at great risk."
