The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Melissa Gorga says sister-in-law and co-star Teresa Giudice is "doing strong," six months after she began a prison sentence for fraud, and maintains a positive attitude while speaking to her daughters and her husband.
Gorga, 36, made her comments on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live on Thursday.
"She's doing as well as can be expected for the situation," she said. "She's holding in there. She's really strong and she's really good at keeping it positive, especially when she talks with the girls on the phone and you know, connects with her husband and everyone. But the girls are doing good too."
Teresa, 43, and husband Joe Giudice, 45, are parents to Gia, 13, Milania, 9, Gabriella, 8, and Audriana, 3. Late last year, both parents were indicted on fraud charges, while he was also convicted of failure to file federal income tax returns.
Teresa was sentenced to15 months in federal prison and began her sentence in January. Records show Teresa is set to be released earlier than expected, on Feb. 5, 2016. Upon the completion of her sentence, Joe is set to serve 41 months in prison.
Gorga said she sees the couple's daughters a lot and that they are friendly with her and husband Joe Gorga's own children, Antonia, Gino and Joey. She said she has not visited Teresa in prison but that her husband, Teresa's brother, has and that she has submitted a request to see her.
During her interview, she also talked about another member of the Real Housewives family—Lauren Manzo, 27, daughter of former cast member Caroline Manzo, 53. Lauren, who stars with her mother on the spinoff Manzo'd with Children, recently married Vito Scalia.
Other Real Housewives of New Jersey stars also attended Lauren's wedding. The famous guest list included Jacqueline Laurita, 45, Teresa's cousins Kathy Wakile, 49, and Rosie Pierri, Caroline's sister Dina Manzo, 43, and her teenage daughter Lexi Manzo.
"Dina was at the church," Gorga said. "I didn't see her at the reception but she was at the church."
Lauren's family and friends posted many photos from her big day on Instagram. The bride wore a white, strapless Vera Wang bridal ball gown. Her mom wore a white strapless mermaid gown.
"To answer the burning question @laurenmanzo asked me to wear white," Caroline wrote on Instagram. "You may resume living now."
"Was that controversial at the wedding?" Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen asked Gorga.
"It was," she replied. "You know, I posted a picture with Caroline and people were like, 'Oh my gosh, why is she stealing Lauren's thunder?' She wanted her to wear white. I thought it was nice. They looked beautiful."
