One Direction's fifth anniversary proved to be quite the joyous occasion.

As we already know, Harry Styles took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the past five years with the boy band, and his bandmates followed suit. But it was especially sweet when Liam Payne took to the social media site, because he included Zayn Malik in his shout-out, which proved that there's no bad blood between the former 1D member and the other guys.

"Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn't thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything," Payne wrote. Malik caught wind of the tweet, and responded to his friend, "@Real_Liam_Payne thanks bro ! x"

Aw, our hearts are happy.

Hearts were broken after Malik announced that he was leaving the band, and behind all of the rumors and hearsay, there has always been the thought that Perrie Edwards, Malik's fiancée, could be to blame.

And according to Payne, that's exactly the reason (but that's not necessarily a bad thing). In an interview with Capital FM, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Liam seemed to confirm the thoughts that have plagued every Directioner.

"Sometimes you have to move on because you're not enjoying what you're doing as much as you used to," Liam told host Lisa Snowdon, and reassured fans that there are no hard feelings against Zayn. "He wanted to spend time with his family and his missus. That's cool with us."

As for what's going to happen with the group now (especially with the news that Louis Tomlinson is expecting a child), Simon Cowell, who created the boy band phenomenon, expressed that some time off might be in their future.

"In terms of the band, they've got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do," he explained to The Sun. "Then I hope they'll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It's a fun job, but it's absolutely their decision."
