Watch: Rosie Perez Sounds Off on Her Exit From "The View"

Rosie Perez is done crying.

Though she served up a tearful goodbye when she announced her exit from The View, Perez is ready to move on.

"Be happy for me," Perez told E! News at the New York premiere of Southpaw. "I feel like I made the right decision to move on and I'm going to miss the girls and I'm going to miss the audience, but it's going to be OK."

Perez is leaving ABC daytime talk show after serving as a co-host for 10 months to to star in Larry David's Broadway play Fish in the Dark, and Perez joked with us about which of her gigs is more challenging.

"They both have their issues, but I'm not complaining," she said with a laugh. "I'm truly not complaining."

And though her hosting gig was a short one, Perez told us that she's learned a lot from her time at The View's table.

"I was really surprised how much it had taught me. It taught me a lot about being a host, a very different medium from being an actor," she said. "It also taught me a lot about my character, how much I could endure and how I had to get over my shyness. Believe it or not, I'm very shy and sitting in front of a live audience every single day is very different from performing in front of a live audience because you have that fourth wall on stage where that fourth wall does not exist on television on a TV talk show. So it taught me a lot."

Perez officially announced her exit earlier this month, with her last show set to air on Aug. 6 and executive producer Bill Wolff promising "a proper sendoff."

"I've decided that it's time to move on and I will say that today is very bittersweet for me," an emotional Perez said on The View's July 8 show, with Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace also tearing up. "I am excited for what is to come but I am so sad to leave The View, the staff, the producers, ABC and especially these two ladies."
