Ginger Zee and husband Ben Aaron are expecting, but what are they expecting?!
The couple announced that the ABC News chief meteorologist was pregnant with their first child on Good Morning America at the end of June, but now they're prepared to reveal the sex of their unborn child: They're having a baby boy!
Aaron and Zee, 34, appeared on GMA Tuesday morning to share the exciting news, which they debuted by standing in front of giant wooden blocks with the morning show co-hosts. At the end of a countdown, everyone lifted the lids off the toy blocks to release tons of blue balloons!
Even though Zee has been on every adventure imaginable—from skydiving to swimming with sharks—she recently admitted that this baby will be her most nerve-wracking mission.
"All the other adventures promise you a return home," she said. "This is like when you get home the adventure's there. That's the big difference—it's why it's so emotional for me, because I'll do anything but this scares me!"
Will she give up on her daredevil lifestyle once the baby comes? It doesn't seem so!
"I think I need to get a BabyBjörn that fits on a paraglider," she joked to People. "Seriously though, we are elated to have the opportunity to be parents. Motherhood will absolutely be my most extreme adventure yet! Can't wait to teach it all my favorite meteorology terms."
As the couple also revealed, they will be expecting their bundle of joy in December. Zee married the NBC correspondent last June in a beachside wedding near her hometown in Michigan. Although the baby news came as a surprise to viewers, Zee confessed that her co-workers had an idea that something was going on when she came back from a trip.
"We knew when you came back from Vietnam," said Robin Roberts at the time of the pregnancy announcement. "We were all looking at each other saying, 'What's going on here?'"
"It's 'cause I was in a mood," Zee said with a smile.
"Well, that's one way of putting it," Roberts answered laughingly.
