Gillian Anderson, Kumail Nanjiani, David Duchovny, Twitter

Let's say you're a super fan of The X-Files. Let's say you have a podcast about The X-Files. Let's also say you're an actor…what  happens when you get a role on The X-Files? Life goals and dreams are made, rainbows, unicorns and puppies burst from the sky, everything is good! This just happened for Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani.

Nanjiani, who hosts The X-Files Files podcast, tweeted the news that he was working on his beloved show alongside The Flight of the Conchords' Rhys Darby. There are many photos to prove it and some great tweets that any fan of The X-Files can appreciate because Nanjiani's enthusiasm is unbridled. Just look at him with series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny.

"I got to be in an ep of my favorite show (X-Files) written & directed by my favorite writer (Darin Morgan.) And this script is wonderful," he tweeted. Everything was going well until he got his welcome binder.

"I had been trying to stay calm & approach it like any other job. And then I freaked out soon as I saw this," he said. And then he worked with Duchovny and Anderson.

"Ok I'll say 1 last thing. David & Gillian were truly kind, welcoming & hilarious. Great people. Now back to your regularly scheduled irony," he tweeted. "We were shooting nights. It was 3 AM. Gillian & David were reminiscing about the show. She looked at me & said ‘You should record this.' So I did. I recorded them swapping stories, laughing. I don't know how the quality is cuz it was on my phone. But I hope to release it soon."

To summarize: Nanjiani just had an amazing week. Not only was his show, Silicon Valley, nominated for an Emmy, but he filmed an episode of The X-Files.

Filmed. An. Episode. Of. The. X. Files. Did he discover the truth that is still out there? We'll find out this January when the Fox series returns for six episodes. Now if you'll excuse us we'll be seething with jealousy and anxiously awaiting that recording.
