There will be a new group of honorees as this year's Kennedy Center Honors Event!

The Kennedy Center Honors announced that the 2015 event will pay tribute to George Lucas, American rock band Eagles, Carole King, Rita Moreno, conductor Seiji Ozawa and Broadway star Cicely Tyson.

This marks a big occasion for Moreno, who is one of 12 artists to earn the highly coveted EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony).

"The Kennedy Center Honors recognizes the extraordinary and unparalleled talents of individuals whose impact and genius have left an indelible mark on civilization," stated Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein in a statement. "Quite simply, our Honorees represent the voices, soundtracks and stories of our personal lives and memories."

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama will sit with the honorees at the Kennedy Center Opera House at the taping on Dec. 6, where peers and fans will pay tribute to them through performances and speeches.

"When I look at this year's outstanding slate of Honorees, I am struck by a powerful common theme – artists as history-makers, artists who defy both convention and category," added Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter. "Each Honoree and their career-spanning achievements exemplify a rare quality of artistic bravery. They have pushed the limits of their gifts as musicians, actors and storytellers to inspire generations of Americans and those around the world."

Although the event tapes Dec. 6, it won't air until Dec. 29 on CBS.

Congratulations to the honorees!
