So it makes sense that the Oscar winner, 69, was previously unaware of the fact Lena Dunham was in a longterm relationship Jack Antonoff. In fact, when Diane first met the Girls creator, 29, at Jennifer Aniston's Christmas party, she mistook her for a lesbian!
At a Trainwreck panel Monday night, Lena recounted (per Vulture) how she'd attended the fête with Judd Apatow. At first, Diane wanted to know if Lena and the 47-year-old producer were on a date. Judd, who is happily married to actress Leslie Mann, clarified Lena was just a pal who happens to be "significantly younger than me."
Diane wanted to know Lena's deal, though! So, as Lena recalled it, she looked at her, "and she said, 'Do you even like men? Are you interested in men?'"
"It was the best thing," Lena gushed. "So Diane Keaton was just straight up like, 'There is a lesbian and I am Diane Keaton so I don't even need to beat around the proverbial bush. I can just let her know.'"
Fair enough! Lena is not, in fact, a lesbian, but she's an outspoken supporter of LGBT rights. She famously told Howard Stern on his Sirius XM radio that she and her "life partner" Jack wouldn't get married until her sister Grace Dunham, who is a lesbian, could get married wherever she wanted.
After last month's Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage across the United States, Lena not-so-subtly hinted at her rocker beau that she wanted a ring! Admittedly, she had a little tweeter's regret about it, even penning a witty New Yorker op-ed on the matter.
Jack hasn't proposed via social media (yet), but he did respond to Lena's piece, tweeting, "Very beautiful."
