Watch: Top 9 Best Made Up Languages Ever Created

Listen up, movie buffs! It's time for a lesson in language.

Well, made-up languages that is. Some of Hollywood's greatest masterpieces including Star Trek and The Lord of the Rings have gone the extra mile to not only build spectacular fantasy worlds, but entire learnable dialects that are spoken in those universes.

Fun fact: It only took four years for a USC professor to create the Na'vi language spoken by the aliens in Avatar, which has since expanded to include a lexicon of more than 2,000 words! We took Spanish throughout high school and college, and still can barely ask where the bathroom is.

And who can resist the adorable gobbledygook spouted by those tiny yellow minions in the Despicable Me flicks? Minionese, as its naturally called, is an epic mashup of English, Spanish, French, Russian and Japanese.

If thrilling adventure is more your cup of tea, you'll be happy to know our official ranking contains a page out of the dictionaries of Game of Thrones' native tongue Dothraki and the slithery whispers of Parseltongue from the Harry Potter franchise.
