Who said you can't celebrate the Fourth of July outside the United States?
E! News has learned George Clooney and Amal Clooney returned to their private Italian residence near Lake Como just in time for the holiday. And as it turns out, some star-studded friends joined the newlyweds to celebrate the festival occasion.
Julia Roberts, husband Daniel Moder and additional guests joined the Hollywood couple as they sailed around Lake Como to enjoy a late-night fireworks display.
Amal looked stunning in a purple and gold sparkling dress while George showed off a goatee in a white button-down and blue pants.
E! News has also learned that the Hollywood actor started his Fourth of July celebration early when he attended the Toto concert in Milan on July 2.
While supporting his close friend and guitarist Steve Lukather, George surprised fans when he stepped onstage during a performance of the group's hit single "Africa."
"He just appeared out of nowhere," a source revealed exclusively to E! News. "Nobody realized for a while who it was and then everyone around started screaming and shouting. They went crazy when they realized it was George."
Another eyewitness said George "looked dapper, very smooth and above all, relaxed and happy" as he surprised his close friend in front of 10,000 fans at the Mercati Generali.
Lukather was one of the many famous guests who attended George and Amal's romantic wedding in Italy last September.
"Everyone in Venice feels so privileged they did this here," an eyewitness told E! News at the time. "What a wonderful moment to see. We all say she's like Jackie Kennedy Onassis. We love her and George does too. It's lovely."
