Fifty Shades of Grey Movie: Alex Pettyfer Stars in Sex Scene Directed by Gus Van Sant

Magic Mike actor gets steamy with actress in director's bid to direct the steamy flick

Alex Pettyfer has shot a sex scene for the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

And he's playing Christian Grey in it.

But, no, the Magic Mike star hasn't actually been cast in the film. Turns out that director Gus Van Sant shot the scene because he wants to show it to producers in a bid to direct the much-anticipated flick, a source confirms. (TheWrap was the first to report the news.)

It apparently shows Anastasia Steele losing her virginity to Grey. No word yet on who played Anastasia. (Maybe it was Betty White?)

Universal Pictures isn't commenting on the Van Sant sampler, but the studio is reportedly aiming for a release date as early as summer 2014. Kelly Marcel is currently writing the screenplay. (E! Online and Universal Pictures are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)

Casting the movie has become a national pastime in Hollywood and among fans of the novel, which has been described as "mommy porn."

And of course, there's also Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the mix because Fifty Shades actually started as Twilight fan fiction.
