If Sacha Baron Cohen thinks he can crash this year's Academy Awards dressed as his latest big-screen alter ego from The Dictator, he wouldn't be the first person to use Hollywood's Biggest Night as their very own promotional platform.

As we await this Sunday's ceremony and red carpet extravaganza, E! News pays homage to the folks who livened things up and made the show a little more memorable.

Here's a rundown of five of the biggest Oscar scene stealers:

1. Michael Moore's Acceptance Speech for Bowling for Columbine: Upon receiving the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature at the 2003 Academy Awards, the firebrand filmmaker used the podium to blast President Bush and his decision to invade Iraq. "We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons," railed Moore. "We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush. Shame on you!"

2. Sex Scandal-Plagued Rob Lowe Dancing With Snow White: Not even the Evil Queen can explain what producers of the 1989 telecast were thinking when they paired an actress playing Disney's iconic princess in an elaborate opening musical number with the young actor—who made tabloid headlines only months before when a tawdry videotape surfaced showing him having sex with a 16-year-old girl. And the duo was tasked with singing a tweaked version of Credence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary" at that!

3. An Offer Marlon Brando Refused: Native American activist Sacheen Littlefeather stole the show as she accepted Best Actor Academy Award on behalf of Marlon Brando for his performance in 1972's The Godfather. Boycotting the Oscars, the legendary thespian sent her in his place to protest the industry's portrayal of Native Americans on both the big screen and small as well as to protest the siege that was then going on at Wounded Knee.

4. Adrien Brody Kissing Halle Berry: If you're going to win a Best Actor Oscar, what better way to celebrate than sneaking a seconds-long smooch with Halle Berry in front of a TV audience of millions of people, right? Kudos to Adrien Brody then for pulling it off after snagging a golden guy for his turn in 2002's The Pianist. "I bet they didn't tell you that was in the gift bag," he quipped. Lucky for him the Monster's Ball star took it in stride.

5. The Oscar Host and the Naked Guy: Perhaps the ultimate scene stealer in our book. Actor David Niven was emceeing the 46th Academy Awards back in 1974 and was in the midst of introducing Elizabeth Taylor to present the Best Picture Oscar when a streaker dashed across the stage behind him. While the sudden appearance of a naked man caused a stir, it wasn't as big as the roar of laughter Niven got with his deadpan quip afterward: "Well, ladies and gentlemen, that was almost bound to happen. But isn't it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?"
