Chris Brown's Alleged "I Promise I Won't Beat You" Pickup Line "Absolutely Not True"

Rep shoots down report that singer attempted to hit on a girl during Grammy weekend by promising not to get violent

Chris Brown may not like to admit it, but sometimes media coverage can come in handy.

Like when you're trying to quash a particularly vile rumor.

That's just what the singer with the infamous and unsettling past did today, this time in regard to a beyond distasteful report claiming that Rihanna's ex (and future collaborator?) attempted to pick up a girl over the Grammy weekend by telling her, "I promise I won't beat you."

Earlier this week, Us Weekly reported that Brown, who pleaded guilty to a particularly brutal felony assault of Rihanna three years ago, attempted to sweet-talk a brunette at a pre-Grammy gifting lounge by telling her, "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you!"

Well, the 22-year-old's rep is now vehemently denying that any such encounter took place.

"That is absurd and absolutely not true," his publicist told E! News. "He did not say that nor would he joke about that."

His rep also took time out to silence another rumor making the rounds, namely that Chris demanded partygoers at Rihanna's early birthday celebration last weekend sign non-disclosure confidentiality agreements before he showed up to ensure that word of his attendance wouldn't leak out.

For all the good that allegedly did. Though that might be because, according to Brown's rep, that also never occurred, as he told E! News that no one asked partygoers to sign any paperwork.

Which, it's worth pointing out, isn't exactly the same thing as denying that Chris was there, period. Keep your ears at the ready, everyone.
