Genealogy researchers at Ancestry.com find that stars are distant cousins

We can totally see the resemblance.

Madonna is a dancer and Ellen DeGeneres likes to dance. Ellen is funny and Madonna was pretty darn funny in Swept Away on The Marriage Ref. Plus, they were both born in 1958 and have blond hair! These two superstars must be related.

As it turns out, they are.

Genealogy researchers at Ancestry.com discovered that the American Idol judge and the American icon are 11th cousins. Apparently, they share a common 10th great-grandfather, Frenchman Martin Aucoin.

Ancestry.com last year uncovered Harry Potter star Emma Watson's connection to a woman accused of witchcraft. And the site's family-tying folks are also helping out with NBC's new genealogy show, Who Do You Think You Are?
