Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett wants everyone to know that she's OK.
She recently went public about her struggle with depression following the birth of her and husband Hank's son, Hank IV, in December. Depending on which website or celebrity magazine you read, Kendra either suffered severe postpartum or was simply a new mom with some worries.
We'll let her explain what really went down…
"I'm not going to sit here and say that I had postpartum depression," Kendra says. "I was depressed but it wasn't diagnosed as postpartum depression. But it was depression. I know because I've been through therapy my whole life."
For example, she had trouble looking in the mirror, so much so that she'd brush her teeth in the dark.
As for Hank, he says he tried his best to help but it was "hard because there's nothing you can say, nothing you can do." Even as he told Kendra how much he loved her and how beautiful she was, she'd shoot back, "'No, I don't feel it,'" Hank remembers.
Fortunately, professional help along with a return to regular workouts put her back on track. Also, the Basketts recently moved back to L.A. after stints in Philadelphia and the very cold Indianapolis, where Hank played for the Eagles and the Colts, respectively. (Though they could be headed back to the East Coast any day now—it was announced Friday that Hank had signed a new contract with the Eagles.)
They insist there will be no pressure on their son to play football. "He'll be whatever he wants to be," Hank says.
Kendra adds, "We're going to guide him as much as we can teach him. We're going to be there every step of the way, but it's his choice what he wants to be in life."
For now, they just want to find some more new friends who have babies. "I think that will be a lot of fun for us," Kendra says. "We can relate to parents."
In ways Hank never could have imagined. "This pregnant woman was asking me the other day if the breast milk ever leaked from Kendra," Hank says. "Any other time this would be highly awkward, but I was like, 'Yeah, Kendra actually had problems with that. She hated it.' It's so funny the conversations you have that you never in your life thought you'd be having with another individual."
The second season of Kendra premieres on E! March 14 followed by her True Hollywood Story March 17.
