Apparently, one of the prices of beauty is big romantic rumors.

The odd coupling of Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan isn't real, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman tells the Chicago Tribune.

"The stuff that I've seen doesn't have any bearing to the reality that I'm in," he says, referring to the tabloid tales of love. "It's like being in a cartoon. It has nothing to do with what's really going on or how I feel."

Maybe that explains why he likened the starlet to Jessica Rabbit just before Valentine's Day.

Alas, the two teamed up to work on the tune to go along with Jessica's Price of Beauty show, coming to VH1 over the summer.

"She asked me to help her out on the theme song for her new TV show," he says, before defending the project to the inevitable fans shouting sellout.

"[The show] has an interesting concept—she goes around the world to show how different people perceive beauty. In some cultures, bigger is better. In some, smaller is better. It's interesting," he explains. "I ended up writing part of [the theme song]. It has a little bit of an alternative rock edge, but it's still very pop-y."

Well, that sure beats what John Mayer had to say about Jess.

________

Do you remember that whole drama with John Mayer from earlier this month? Yeah, we wish we could forgive and forget it, too.
