Johnny Depp's not just a pretty face.
His voice ain't bad, either. The consumate cool guy provides the narration to a new documentary about the Doors, the iconic 1960s band fronted by the late Jim Morrison.
Directed by Living in Oblivion's Tom DiCillo and produced by Law & Order honcho Dick Wolf (among others), When You're Strange: A Film About the Doors has been compiled solely from archival footage—some of it never before seen—of the group during its heyday.

"As a rock 'n' roll documentary, or any kind of documentary for that matter, it simply doesn't get any better than this," said Depp in a statement. "What an honor to have been involved. I am as proud of this as anything I have ever done."
Since Morrison's death in a Paris bathtub in 1971, the band's legend has continued to grow, providing the basis for Oliver Stone's Val Kilmer-led biopic and Danny Sugerman's tome No One Here Gets Out Alive, as well as archival live performances that continue to get released each year.
Having already played at Sundance, Berlin and other festivals, the film is now set to hit theaters April 9.
