All My Children is about to get a little less dramatic.
David Canary, who has played the death-faking, Erica Kane-duping powerbroker Adam Chandler (and, for awhile, his twin brother Stuart) for 27 years, has announced that he is retiring from the stalwart ABC soap opera.
"My career on All My Children has given me more than words could ever covey, both professionally and personally," the five-time Daytime Emmy Award winner said Tuesday. "I have cherished each and every moment. I would like to thank all the fans who have tuned in throughout the years. Their love and support has meant the world to me."
But, he added, "this not the last you've seen of Adam Chandler. I will be back to check up on the Chandler clan."
ABC has promised a blowup with current wife Annie and a reunion with an ex. Sounds scandalous.
