You may have noticed a few changes around here.
Okay, you may have noticed a lot of changes around here. We've completely redesigned, revamped and reinvigorated the site you've known and loved for the past 10 years in order to keep E! Online the sleekest, smartest site on the Web for entertainment news, gossip, fashion and more. We've got new columns, new features, new video capabilities, new technologies and, well, lots of new stuff.
See, here's the thing: It's new. So, we thought you might need a few directions as you navigate through this brand-spankin' fresh-from-the-oven version of E! Online. Let's get started:
Q: Why did you change? I liked it the old way.
A: We did, too. But things change, or at least ought to, and we think once you've had a chance to play around with the new features you'll like this version of E! Online even more. Really.
Q: What are the technical requirements for getting the most out of the site and The Vine @ E! Online?
A: You must have a high-speed Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, T1, ISDN, etc.). You'll need speakers or headphones and a sound card. You gotta have Flash 8 installed. And we recommend browsing on either Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (or higher), Firefox or Safari.
Q: Celebrity 101? What is this, a test?
A: Relax. The 101 is a list of the top celebrities based on something really cool--your interest. The people you want to know about, the people you click, the people you search for are counted and ranked according to your interest. We don't pick 'em--you do!
Q: Who's the new guy?
A: Marc Malkin is the new guy at E! Online. He's writing the Planet Gossip column and will be bringing you a daily blog of the hottest Hollywood gossip. Make sure to stop by throughout the day and night. Gossip never stops, and neither does Marc.
Q: More gossip? What about Ted Casablanca?
A: Ted's here and as faboo as ever. He's got all the stuff you love--the blind items, the sightings and the scoops--and he's bringing them to you on a daily basis. Plus, have you seen the muscles on this guy?
Q: Fashion Police looks different. What did you do to it?
A: Fashion Police is now in the Fashion section, and it's daily, so you'll be able to get even more critiquing on the couture set. Plus, Trend Spy is now weekly with bigger celeb photos, so you can actually see the trends without squinting.
Q: Wow, that's a lot of photos!
A: Yeah, we have a lot of photos for you to get lost in. First off, we've got the Big Picture that takes the best shots of the day and puts them right up on front of the site for you to check out. Everything from laugh-your-butt-off shots of your favorite celebs in categories such as Java Jones, Fake & Bake, Pampered Pooches and more in the Gossip section. We've also got photo galleries of the week's top news makers, party revelers and shots from upcoming films and current E! shows. And there's more to come!
Q: Let's talk news. Where's First Look?
A: It's now even firstier and lookier. You can get it right on the News index in that cool little box. No muss, no fuss.
Q. What happened to the Dotted Line?
A: It's been expanded and renamed. You can now get the scoop on Tinseltown's biggest deals in our new Casting Couch section.
Q: What else is new in News?
A: It's now easier than ever to search our archive of 20,000-plus news stories. We have photo galleries for all the biggest headlines. You can rate and comment on any news item. And you can get video of the freshest E! News headlines on the Vine.
Q. Tell me something about that Hollywood Party Girl. I like her.
A: Party Girl's not just going to parties, she's dishing out all the scoop she's picked up from her soiree education in Tips & Dips. Plus, if you're looking for photos, there's more than ever! Click on Party Pics to see more shots of your favorite revelers partying the night away.
Q: Is the Watch With Kristin Chat gone?
A: The weekly chat on Monday afternoon has been replaced, because we've found even cooler ways to let you interact with and get scoop from Kristin, including, for the first time ever, your chance to actually Watch With Kristin. Each week, E!'s resident tube-obsessed TV Diva will join you on the message boards to watch an episode of a particular show. It'll be a live, interactive and, of course, dishy experience and your chance to bond with Kristin and your fellow TV fans. In addition, the Watch With Kristin column is now bigger, better and speedier, updating at least once a day with breaking scoop, spoilers, behind-the-scenes dish, interviews and answers to your questions. Kristin also will be addressing your Q's during her revamped weekly show on the Vine. So, the only question is, can you stand this much Kristin?
Q: What is Korbi's Quickie?
A: Korbi's Quickie is the obsessed TV fan's daily cheat sheet. Every morning, Korbi recounts the best moment on television from the night before, and why it was, frankly, so awesome. Korbi's Quickie also includes her pick(s) to watch that night, and why you just can't afford to miss it/them.
Q: I like movies. Tell me something to pique my interest.
A: How about that the reviews are better, longer and more useful and fun than ever? How about that we have not one but two new columns launching soon that are devoted to the lively art of movies and the people who make them, especially when those people do things off camera that make us smile.
Q: What's a podcast? Does it hurt?
A: Only when administered by the Answer B!tch. But it's a good hurt. And we've got more podcasts that you can download for free through iTunes. Seriously, it's a blast--and did we mention they're free?
Q: Anything missing?
A: Nothing that hasn't been replaced with something even more awesome. The Fun & Games tab has been retired, and the Features will be integrated into the site in a more supple way. The music reviews have been retired in their current form, but we'll cover music in some cool new ways in a feature coming soon.
Q: Where's Guilty Pleasures? I think it's the greatest thing ever, and not just because my son worked on it!
A: Thanks, Mom. We're going to be unveiling an even more awesome section shortly that takes the best of our picks and reviews and delivers them to you in a way cooler than you ever thought imaginable.
Q: What else?
A: More to come, friend. More to come.
