It's more fun than doing it alone

Will Arnett Returns to 30 Rock!

Break out your shorty robe and pop a little bubbly, 'cause Will Arnett is bringing that gayer-than-gay magic back to 30 Rock!

This news was just confirmed to me by Arnett's rep and NBC Universal, who reveal that Arnett will return as Jack Donaghy's (Alec Baldwin) scheming and scamming archnemesis Devin Banks in the first episode back, which airs Oct. 30. Honestly, can you think of a better way to ring in the new season?

This also means we'll get both Arnett and his lovely and very preggers missus, Amy Poehler (starring in the new series from The Office producers), on NBC comedies this season.

Arnett, who is up for an Emmy for this very role (and better win, if there is any justice) has been spotted on the 30 Rock set in Manhattan this week shooting scenes with Baldwin and looking very, um, orange.

Too many Cheetos or too much self-tanner? Something tells me it has to be the latter, given how good he looks in that mini-mini-micro terrycloth.

Anyone else counting the days till 30? Holler below...

Chuck Boss on Back Nine "Surprise"

Just in case you haven't heard, the nice people at NBC have picked up the back nine episodes of Chuck's second season. Holler!

I can't think of a cast that deserves it more, including, of course, Zach Levi, who continues to be a quintessential leading man—ready and willing to do just about anything if it helps out his show and the people who support themselves working on it.

And now that season two is secure for all those folks, I asked Chuck boss Josh Schwartz what this means for the show and for the season, and he replied:

"We are thrilled and totally surprised by the pickup. We've had a great partnership with NBC from day one and to have them show this kind of confidence is really inspiring. I'm also really excited for Chris Fedak who deserves so much credit for the quality of the show.

"In terms of the rest of the season, we had big plans for the season finale last year that were cut short by the strike. To know we can go forward this year is really exciting.

"You will see more romance from some unexpected pairings...Couples you would never imagine. And yes, there will be a wedding coming, and it will be awesome."

Couldn't have said it better myself! Anybody else looking forward to Chuck's full season two? Post in the comments!

Fall TV Preview: Thursday Night's New Shows

Jason O'Mara, Rufus Sewell ABC Vivian Zink, CBS

Welcome to Thursday night, also known as the biggest mystery of the fall, because the networks have allowed reporters to see three...two...one...no, none of these new shows! Oh well, it's OK, I'm sure that's not a bad sign...Um, right?

Click in to get the goods on what we do know about the three new series premiering on Thursday night: ABC's Life of Mars (about which I remain genuinely hopeful), along with NBC's Kath & Kim (which NBC president Ben Silverman contends will be the funniest show on television) and CBS' Eleventh Hour (which our odds expert, Benjamin Eckstein of America's Line, predicts to be the number-one new hit series of the fall).

Fall TV Preview: Wednesday Night's New Shows

Charlie Hunnam, Sydney Poitier, Jerry O'Connell Timothy White/FX, Mitchell Haaseth/NBC, Scott F. Schafer/FOX

Wednesday is hump day, and I hate to say it, but I'm not so sure the five new series the networks are offering up for fall are going to help you make it through.

This lackluster newbie night is home to NBC's Knight Rider, CBS' Gary Unmarried, Fox's Do Not Disturb, CW's Stylista and FX's Sons of Anarchy, and at least two of those are in a very tight race for my least favorite new series of the season.

90210 Video: Shannen and Jennie Set Rumors Straight

Jennie Garth, Shannen Doherty Jean Baptiste Lacroix/Getty Images; Nancy Kaszerman/ZUMAPress.com

They're supposed to be BFF's, but can they actually pull it off? That is the money Q for America's favorite frenemies, Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, as the CW preps to launch its much yapped about new 90210 exactly one week from today.

As you can see from the video below, there were no signs of backstabbing or bitchery (sorry!) at the show's white-hot premiere party in Malibu (well, despite what may or may not have been carefully timed, separate arrivals—but hey, you can't blame the girls for being cautious). And Jennie insists it's all been blown out of proportion—and in at least one case, a complete fabrication.

Click in to hear from Jennie and Shannen yourself and get the goods on Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh's love lives! (Plus, some exclusive photos from the party.)

Oh, what glorious wonders be. Jenna Fischer, whom we know and love as The Office's Pam Beesly, just rang me up to break the exclusive news that she has been released today from Rainn Wilson's trunk.

Even better, she was calling me from Pam's dorm at art school (holler!) and was willing to dish about what's ahead for Pam and "Jam" this season. Read on for the scoop in Jenna's first post-trunk interview!

Fall TV Preview: Tuesday Night's New Shows

Anna Torv, Joanna Garcia, Shenae Grimes Michael Lavine / Fox, CW, Justin Stephens / The CW

House or 90210? Joshua Jackson, Simon Baker or Lance Bass?

These, dear friends, are the choices you must be prepared to make as you prep your TiVo for fall's Tuesday night.

While overall, I have to say the new crop of shows this season feels a bit mehhh (at least, based on what the networks have shown us so far), I did get into Fringe and The Mentalist and think Privileged could have promise.

Read on for the lowdown on Tuesday's newcomers, then weigh in with what you'll be watching...

Spoiler Chat: Office, Heroes, Arrested Movie Development and More

John Krasinski, Zachary Quinto, Jason Bateman Jesse Grant/Getty Images, Jeffrey Mayer/Getty Images, Robert C. Mora/Getty Images

Henry in Boise, Idaho: Bring back my Bluths! Any update on the Arrested Development movie? Haven't heard a peep since Jason Bateman said they were working on it.
According to his onscreen mama, Jessica Walter, it is moving forward. "I was told it's going to film next year. That's what I hear," she said and then added with a laugh, "and they better include me, or I'll put a bullet in my head!" Of course the biggest hurdle is the scheduling: "That’s been the problem in the past, to try and get everybody together at the same time. But we are aiming for next year, and I hope it can all be worked out—I miss those people, I miss the writing." Don't we all, Lucille. Don't we all.

Madison in Tallahassee, Fla.: Kristin, I am craving some Office dish, big time. Any news?
John Krasinski
told me he's talked to his costars about possibly directing an upcoming episode. "I talked to Rainn, Jenna and Steve about it, and they said it would be cool, but I think they’re just being nice. We'll see." As you may know, John's been working on a movie called Interviews With Hideous Men, which he's written, directed and starred in, but said directing his own show would be different: "It might be a little weird. It would be like if you’re at dinner with your family and telling them when they can eat. And you're like, 'Mom, not yet, you don’t pass the salt yet! I’ll tell you when to do that!' ”

Marley in Santa Monica, Calif.: Any scoop on 90210? Is it any good?

90210 Cast Reveals Why Premiere Is "Top Secret"

Shannen Doherty Jason LaVeris/Getty Images

You've gotta love this. The Parents Television Council is putting the kibosh on the CW's 90210even though its members haven't seen it yet.

"If Gossip Girl is any indication of what 90210 will look like, advertisers have plenty of reason to steer clear of the show," PTC President Tim Winter said in a just-released statement. "No reputable advertiser should even consider sponsoring the show without viewing the content in advance."

Hear that? It's the sound of the CW promo guy rubbing his hands together in delight. Hate to break it to you, PTC, but this is just the kind of publicity the 9-0 folks were hoping for. It worked out magically for their Gossip Girl billboards, after all.

Of course, the big question is, why is the CW not showing anyone the premiere episode before it airs? As I found out at the show's launch party on Saturday, the answer is a lot more practical than you'd think...

ABC Picks Up Castle and Cupid

Nathan Fillion AP Photo/Gaas

Yay! Nathan Fillion is heading back to series television! I've just received confirmation that ABC has picked up Nathan's pilot, Castle.

Written by Andrew Marlowe (the guy behind a little movie called Air Force One), Castle is the story of a mystery writer who advises the New York City police on particularly difficult cases. (Sort of like how after 9/11 the feds asked screenwriters to come up with the craziest terrorist scenarios they could think of, in hopes of being better equipped to deal with the possibilities.)

Rob Thomas Michael Caulfield/WireImage.com

To make the news even better, I've also just confirmed that the Cupid do-over (from original creator and Veronica Mars mastermind Rob Thomas) has been picked up to series as well.

More Captain Mal Reynolds and more Rob Thomas? Today is a very good day for TV!
