New Season of Project Runway Not in Till '09

Project Runway Season 5 Bravo

Project Runway is going to be auf the air for a little longer than expected.

Lifetime, which will be the Emmy-nominated series' new home once the current cycle ends, said Friday that it is delaying the premiere of the show's sixth season until January 2009.

"With this move, the series will resume its traditional cycle of two seasons per year," a network rep told Entertainment Weekly. "We look forward to ringing in the New Year by giving Project Runway loyal fans a superlative season six with Heidi, Tim, Nina, and Michael. The new date and time will be announced soon.”

Stand Up to Cancer Gets a Rise Out of Hollywood's Finest

Mariah Carey, Fergie Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

The stars came out tonight with hopes of brightening the way for years to come.

Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek, Ellen DeGeneres, Keanu Reeves, Billy Crystal, Scarlett Johansson, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Casey Affleck, America Ferrera, Fran Drescher, Forest Whitaker, John Krasinski, Christina Applegate, Josh Brolin and Masi Oka are just some of the A-listers who participated Friday in the Stand Up to Cancer telethon, benefiting cancer research, at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, the stars of Lost, Lance Armstrong, Tina Fey and some fellow 30 Rockers, Carson Daly and Tom Green also spoke up via video.

But despite a roster of names that wouldn't have seemed out of place at the Oscars, it was sobering to see how many of the event's participants' lives have been affected by cancer, including Applegate, who after being diagnosed with breast cancer this year underwent a preventative double mastectomy, Katie Couric, whose husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998.

Leighton Meester's Ex-Con Mom Books Herself

Leighton Meester Eric Liebowitz/The CW

Lynne Spears isn't the only celebrity mom coming out with a memoir.

E! News has learned exclusively that Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester's mother Connie Meester, who gave birth to her daughter while doing time in a Texas prison for a drug-related crime, may soon be coming to a bookshelf near you.

Connie's manager Loch Powell confirms that Mama Meester has penned "a memoir," about her family life, which began as a screenplay "3 or 4 years ago," but that she has yet to find a publisher.

The book will reportedly tell Connie's life journey from drug ring co-conspirator to suburban real estate agent to author and, of course, to the rearing of her TV star child.

Spider-Man 4: Tobey Not a Lock—Yet?

Tobey Maguire, Spiderman Merrick Morton / Columbia Pictures
More from The Awful Truth

Call it the battle of the contractual web weavers. Tobey Maguire's very interested in doing the next Spider-Man sequel, sure, and now there's word today that the deal is done. Not true at all, blab several top sources on the project, who say the news about Spidey 4—and maybe 5—is jumping the gun.

These film insiders insist that the Tobey sealed-up talk is "premature," though it does look like Maguire is headed toward putting on that sexy suit again. Tobe-doll made roughly $17 mil on the last flick alone, minimum, right? What idiot wouldn't for that kind of loot?

Here's how it's going down:

VMA-zing: Miley Primed for "Awesome" Britney

Miley Cyrus INFphoto.com

VMA performance or not, Miley Cyrus is pumped up for Britney Spears to do whatever she's doing at the MTV self-love fest this weekend.

Cyrus is in New York City, prepping for a huge gig at CBS' upcoming Condé Nast-sponsored Fashion Rocks charity concert featuring music legends and fashionistas to benefit cancer research. When popping out of a midtown rehearsal space yesterday, photogs asked Cyrus if she was looking forward to Spears' do-over.

"It will be awesome, I can't wait," she said.

Sting Can Be Your Hero, Baby

Sting, Guitar Hero Activision

Every note you fake, it will look like Sting is watching you.

The British soft-rocker is the latest hitmaker to lend his image—and a strings-happy tune—to the megahot Guitar Hero franchise, which in recent years has welcomed Metallica and Aerosmith and noted strummers like Slash and Tom Morello into the pixelated fold.

Sting's upcoming contribution will be to the new Guitar Hero World Tour, which also boasts the stylings of Tool. Players will either be able to "take the stage" and play to wild crowds as Sting or "jam" alongside him on the song "Demolition Man."

This version of Activision's carpal tunnel-inducing funfest will also feature microphone and drumkit attachments for a full-on battle of the bands—as well as composing and editing software, for those quieter moments when the keg is empty and your "drummer" is passed out on the floor.

Afternoon Fix: Secret Video Proves Britney Can Still Dance

• Look! It's Britney rehearsing with dancers to a new song! Could this be for the VMAs? Two more days and all will be revealed.

• Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera unleashed her new single "Keeps Getting Better" today. We’re not completely digging—it's not as fun as it wants to be, but should be perfect for America's Next Top Model promos.

Seth Rogen likes to watch tons of porn.

Shannen Doherty admits to liking someone, and it's Brian Austin Green. But alas, she knows he could never return to 90210, because he belongs on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Heidi and Spencer announce that Barbie and Ken dolls of their likeness are on their way. Now we know something scarier than Bratz dolls can exist.

• Awww, why is Javier Bardem crying, and why is it so sexy?

Guy Ritchie Hits Toronto, Talks Sherlock Holmes

More from Lyons Den

Guy Ritchie brought his London gangster flick RocknRolla (oh, and also his wife, Madonna) to the Toronto Film Festival this week, and I caught up him between parties and premieres. The king of the British underground spilled dish on his latest film, starring Gerard Butler and Jeremy Piven, and his big-budget Sherlock Holmes, which starts shooting in a month. When a Starlet and an Icon Wear the Same Dress: Brenda Walsh vs. L.C.

Lauren Conrad, Shannen Doherty Jean Baptiste Lacroix / Getty Images ; Jeffrey Ufberg / Getty Images

Lauren Conrad and Shannen Doherty stepped out last night in the same dress. Sure, it was on different coasts (the 90210 star was in NYC for the Late Show) and in different colors, but that doesn’t mean we’d let it slip past us.

We actually feel pretty sorry for L.C. in this fashion face-off—Shannen Doherty is no one we’d like to take on, even if it’s just over who wore a dress best. After all, there may not have been an all-out fistfight between Brenda and Kelly during the original 90210, but there was definitely some scratching.

So you tell us: Which L.A. girl rocked this little silk dress with the fossil print the best? Also, when do you think the 90210-ers will run into the Hills girls at some hot club? Because that's gonna be an awesome showdown.

Ryan Kwanten Is Bloody Hot

True Blood, Ryan Kwanten HBO
More from Marc Malkin

Ryan Kwanten has no problems being more naked than not on the new HBO vampire series, True Blood.

In the new drama from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball, Kwanten plays Jason Stackhouse, a small-town Louisiana hick who doesn't seem interested in anything but bedding any woman he can get his hands on. Just watch in this coming Sunday's premiere—the 31-year-old Australian native is shown in some rather revealing compromising positions.

"The shirt doesn't get on much more than it does in the pilot," Kwanten tells me with a laugh. "But I definitely think it's part of what makes Jason Jason."
